Bridge:
A Bridge is restoration
that replaces a missing tooth or missing teeth by anchoring to adjacent
teeth...In order to construct a bridge, the teeth adjacent to the missing
tooth must be "prepared" (as in ground down). While this is considered
a sacrifice of sound tooth structure in some instance, it is necessary to
achieve the result. An alternative to a bridge which allows for the conservation
of the adjacent teeth is a dental implant.
