Dentures (Overdentures)
Almost 50 million people in the United States are missing all of their teeth (And it often seems that most of them live right here in Florida). Dentures are a removable restoration which is used to replace missing teeth for patients who are completely edentulous (Missing all of their teeth). The restoration is, at best, a compromise and many people have lots of problems with dentures, especially with lower dentures. Very often, Implants can be used to support and retain dentures and in general, make them work much better. Many people with dentures who do not have dental implants are forced to use denture adhesive products to hold their dentures in place.
The Prosthodontist is specifically trained to make dentures and is regarded as the expert in this area. This training comes in very handy in doing implant supported restorations since many of them are based on denture concepts. Below is one patient where expert denture construction and the use of implants have combined to provide a great looking restoration that is also stable and retentive and perfectly comfortable for the patient...

In point
of fact, the upper restoration is a complete denture and the lower restoration
is a denture prosthesis attached to dental implants. The beauty and the
comfort of the restoration is achieved through years of training and experience
in this field...
